1 Corinthians 15:51-58
When in 1 Corinthians 15:58 Paul uses the phrase, “work of the Lord” he is speaking of the occupation that our Lord Jesus, who is Ruler, God the Son, the Creator, our Savior, has assigned to us. God is our Master who has purchased us from the slave market of sin and He owns us and has given us something to do. But He is also a benevolent, kind and loving Master. He doesn’t tell us to sweep the floor without giving us the best broom in the world. He sends us on a mission to reach the lost and has given us His Holy Spirit to indwell us, to empower us, to provide for us, to teach us, to lead and guide us and gift us with a myriad of spiritual gifts so that we can get the job done right. And, when the job is done right, He rewards us with an inheritance that is “imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for us” (1 Peter 1:4).
